I wrote the song when I was in the middle of Breaking Bad season 4. At the time, I was trying to write something using allusions to Dante’s Inferno and it just clicked that a song from the perspective of Skylar White about her marriage to Walter White after 5 seasons of lies would be a great story of transformation. I had a lot of fun writing Deeper.
