about

This Voice came to life pretty late in terms of the production of the album. I really wanted to talk about how my experience on American Idol made me feel at times. As great as it was, I would regularly feel this anxiety building up inside that I wasn’t being completely true to myself because I wanted to be more than just a singer; I wanted to record and produce music; be a songwriter, be a musician. And during those few months I was on the show, I knew that if I wanted to progress any further, there wasn’t going to be any room to want anything else and that was really heavy for me at the time.

lyrics

I've been waiting to fall off a cliff
Waiting for it to make sense, patiently
I've been counting down the days
'Til I'm hit with a wave, that will pull me under, Oh
Chorus
This voice won’t save me forever
This voice won’t save me forever
I fear the storm that's sure to come
And the thunder I cant outrun, strike me down
I fear that I'll give everything and in the end
I'll still regret not having more, Oh
Chorus
Fall to the bottom and climb to the top
Never give in, never give up, don't stop
Break down the doors 'til you're broken yourself
Never give up, just on everything else
Let in consume you, let it abuse you
A fair price to pay for the chance to continue
Fighting for things that you couldn't find
Though they've been there the whole time
Chorus x4
Oh this voice, this voice, it won't save me
